Alexey Naplekov won the Varna Cup in table tennis

The Ukrainian athlete Alexey Naplekov won the third edition of the Varna Cup open table tennis tournament, organized by SKTM "Varna - 2015" with the help of Varna Municipality at Collizeone Table Tennis Arena. In addition to the cup and the gold medal, he also collected BGN 2,000 from the prize fund, which this year was a record - BGN 5,000.On his way to the final, the hitherto unknown in Bulgaria Naplekov, who demonstrated the unpopular short-toothed defensive style of the racket, successively eliminated after groups Mikhail Trifonov, Vladimir Petkov and David Kostadinov. In the semi-final, in an epic battle with Petko Gabrovski, the Ukrainian managed to win 4-3, 15-13 in the counter-game to face national champion Petyo Krastev in the final.Krastev, on the other hand, managed to turn Radoslav Kamberov from 0-3 to 4-3 in an equally intriguing semi-final. Kamberov was outstanding in the first 3 games, but then he seemed to lose his physical strength, although he fought until the last point. In the sixth game, Krastev won with a dramatic 20-18, and in the countergame with 12-10.The final will not be remembered, like the semi-finals, because apparently Naplekov was quite uncomfortable for Petyo Krastev and logically won with 4-0. The second place won Krastev 1000 BGN from the prize fund, the semi-finalists Gabrovski and Kamberov took home 500 BGN each, and the losers in the quarterfinals David Kostadinov, Plamen Varbanov, Maria Yovkova and Stefan Dimitrov each took 250 BGN.The competition for the Varna Cup in table tennis was held over the weekend for the third year in a row as an invariable part of the festivities on the occasion of the day of the sea capital. Its basis continues to be the support of the Sports Directorate of the Municipality of Varna and the excellent organization of SKTM "Varna - 2015", which hosts in its modern 5-star Collizeone Table Tennis Arena in Varna Towers (The Two Towers).
